Ever since I was 13, I have been in love with foreign policy. It all started the summer before 8th grade as I began to work on a submission for the National History Day competition. I initially struggled to come up with a subject area; however, after reading about Russian interference in the US election, I decided to make a documentary about the fall of the Soviet Union and the liberalization of its policies. I wanted my film to include many perspectives on this issue, and I knew that the best way to do so was through interviews. After months of work on my documentary, I was able to interview US Secretary of State George Shultz, assistant to President Mikhail Gorbachev, Pavel Palazhchenko, and President Mikhail Gorbachev, himself. These interviews changed my life and inspired me to create the International Student Conference on Global Affairs.
-Jonathan Bogen, ISCGA Founder
